We are already talking about ideas for next year’s Christmas blog (we are even tossing around the idea of a 40 day Easter blog during the season of Lent). Your feedback, ideas and suggestions are very welcome. How can we make this THE place for people to congregate during these seasons? What type of posts are your favorite? Use the comment link to help make the City Christmas Blog even better.
Have you taken the daily poll?
It’s not too late to forward the blog link to your friends this Christmas. We are planning a Christmas Eve crescendo (kind of like the final hurrah of fireworks on July 4th).
The only thing I’d change at this point is -too many categories!-sorry, but it makes it harder to find what you’re looking for, otherwise, I LOVE this blog
This blog has way too few people posting comments! Any ideas for how to get more people to join the conversation?? We have over 100 posts and about 225 comments posted so far. We’d like to see 10-15 comments per post! I suppose if we posted something heretical or political or controversial people would pipe in. But we aren’t going there!
I would put something like this at the bottom of each post:
–
p.s. We want your comments! Let us know what you thought about this (video/devotional/whatever) by leaving a comment below!
–
People need to be encouraged/prodded/reminded often - you need to give them a “call to action” (that’s what us marketers call it… )
i thought it went good. a easter blog would be fun. i really enjoyed the daily devotional. i’m looking forword to another blog.
I guess it is impossible to create something that everyone is going to respond to. If your asking me i want to have some fun. Lets laugh we dont laugh enough get some funny comments going and start there so people can laugh. I also love to be challenged to think but that usually doesnt come out in a blog as people seem to refrain and hold back. What is the purpose of the blog? to attract new people, to build our own knowledge and fun, i guess that is something i would love to know and see. what exactly is the purpose and target. This may have all been said but if we have a good purpose and mission behind it to measure against we can determine its effectiveness. I am even having a hard time posting this just because we dont know the response of people but oh well i guess that is the point. i will probably have more to say later.
Here are my thoughts: I love the blog site! It is fun and interactive, but I don’t always have time to watch a bunch of videos (Especially if I’m at work I try to stay away from streaming media), so maybe not quite as many videos? Just a thought…
I really enjoy the devotional, but often have to search for it if I can’t make it on first this in the morning. Can we keep it towards the top of the page some how?
Also, I would love some type of a question/answer forum for us to post questions regarding the season or holiday we are blogging about and have one of our amazing pastors or church staff respond to them. (For example, someone may want to ask: What is the purpose of fasting and why do so many people participate in a fast during the time of Lent? or Why do some denominations call their followers to give something up during Lent and does Church at the Gate share those beliefs? And Pastor Steve or other church staff can respond) — I don’t know, this could be opening up a can of worms that you may not want to get into either.
I agree with Ted, the humor is excellent! One of the things I appreciate about our church is that we are willing to have fun and laugh with each other. I will never look at another Christmas Tree or Wreath without thinking of how many fire crackers it would take to blow it up thanks to this website!
Overall, the blog site is great! Thanks to everyone who puts in the time and effort to make it happen.
I love the blog, and would welcome an Easter one. I thought that after this one was over I maybe should “get a life” again…..as I sure do spend alot of time here! It’s a great way to procrastinate, and learn a whole lot at the same time! I have found that some of the entries have brought me to tears, and others have brought much laughter, and others have just left me “awed”! This is a good thing, and I vote for an Easter blog site!
Definitely do another blog! I think this is great!
Of all the blogs I have looked at comments are very rare. I think if we want to really draw people into a conversation it might be a good idea to introduce a forum.
