Another Original City Christmas Story - by You, and You, and You

Let’s write another original Christmas story! Here’s how this works: in the paragraph below, we will start a story. But, we aren’t going to finish it. That’s where you come in. YOU continue the story by posting a few more sentences (and special twists to the story) using the comments link and then the next person adds a few more after you. Each person needs to begin their part with these two words…. AND THEN… After 50 or so posts, we’ll have a great story that could go any number of directions!

The story begins…

A hundred voices all around whisper… He’s coming.  Shhh, here he comes. He’s coming right now. Quiet, he is just down the way… SHHHHH.  The stranger steps up to an old man leaning against one of the building lining the street, what’s going on?

What do ya mean, what’s going on? The babe and his mother are just coming down the street. Best not to disturb his rest, you’ll pay dearly if you cross that ones path in the wrong way.

What do you mean, how can a child such as this have so much influence over all of these people?

Ya ain’t from around here are ya son?

No sir, and I heard nothing good every comes out if this place, so I was a little shocked by all the goings on around here.

You mark my words boyo, there be something good comin’ out of Bethlehem this season.

Just then….

At first she sang only to the child, her eyes intently focused on the child’s peaceful face. She sang, from her heart, a song that was filled with Love and Joy, and Excited Anticipation of what was to come. Her voice was not loud, yet the words carried by passion reached every ear.

The child stirred in her arms and her attention was broken. She lifted her head and saw tears on every face. Complete silence filled the street until one whisper could be heard repeating the words of the mother, then another and another, each nearly a silent whisper with one building on another until it sounded as if this wind itself were singing.
