    Joe Says:

Hi Steve - I was motivated by your message this weekend… the point you made about how we want to hear “well DONE, good and faithful servant” struck a chord with me…

The word “done” is a derivative of the word “do”. It’s not whether we’re sitting in the pew of a “good, biblical church” listening to good doctrine - it all depends on whether we’re going to DO something with what we hear.

If we aren’t “doers” of God’s word, we are DECEIVED!

I used to be part of a church that thought doctrine was supremely important - if you didn’t have all your doctrinal ducks in a row, there was no way you could be a doer of the word (to them). But, the emphasis was so much on doctrine, that the “doing” got left behind. Instead of taking the simple message of Christ to the hurting people of our community, we cooped ourselves up inside, reading theological books ABOUT doing… but we rarely ever actually went out and DID.

Reading a book about the gospel isn’t going to convert your neighbor.

Just preaching a sermon to the choir isn’t going to bring God’s kingdom out to a poor widow who’s home alone on Sunday.

And listening to a message about giving financially - without action - isn’t going to impact God’s kingdom.

That’s why I’m investing half of my family’s savings into the Bank at the Gate program - for the glory of God’s kingdom!

And, I’d like to “challenge” other members of the church to do likewise!

Let’s see how quickly we can fund the building project, and put our money where our EARS are!

    Tag - you’re it!
