Last night I went out for an evening walk in beautiful Sioux Falls, SD. My gait was more than jubilant due to a joyous hopeful optimism welling up within me. So joyous was the atmosphere that my arms were swinging at least two inches higher than normal. No suprise really from the crisp look of the sky and the fresh snap of the chill air, my gratitude was overflowing and exhuberant.
Then suddenly the joyous note my heart was singing took on a sweet yearning that was somehow painfully bearable in a lovesick kinda way. Each step now seemed one step closer to the end of wantoness. Snow was falling on this scene. Wind Blew. Light shimmered. Oh what extravagent love that found me suddenly standing still in the normal night walk.
Wishing you many noteable moments! I hope that the Christmas Spirit touches you this year in a powerful way. Take some time away from the hussle and bustle and connect with The Ultimate Gift Giver. He has an everlasting present just for you!
Thanks Pastor Jim! I too recently received a touch from the Spirit while listening to the radio before sleep. That song that says “Everytime I breathe you seem a little bit closer” was playing and as I was singing along it suddenly struck me. EVERY time I breathe He DOES come a little closer. With every breath, every heartbeat the advent of His SECOND coming draws closer! And soon we will never be separated from Him again! How I LONG FOR that time. So as we celebrate His first advent, lets pray for His second advent to be SOON!
The Christmas songs seem to be taking on deeper meaning for me this year. I get tingles while listening to them and I feel the closeness of the Lord.
There’s no greater gift than Jesus Christ! He is THE gift!
