The shooting at the mall in Omaha this week struck really close to home for us here in South Dakota (geograpically). The shooting last night at the YWAM base in Denver hit even closer (emotionally) as we so strongly support YWAM and have many YWAM friends.
However, the shooting this afternoon at New Life Church in Colorado Springs deeply pains many here at Church at the Gate. Our relational ties to New Life Church are evident to many. We stood right with them through the difficult days following Pastor Ted’s fall last year (He was my lead overseer until that point). And, we hope and pray through this far greater horror, the world will really see the genuineness and love of this remarkable house of prayer called New Life Church. Even more, we hope they see Jesus.
It’s a bit trite to just say something about these shootings like “hurting people hurt people.” Something greater and far more evil is going on in our society and world. Prayers and comments are welcome here in the comment box.
Me prayers are most definitely with our brothers and sisters at New Life.
It touches a little closer to home when you have walked in those halls yourself.
It is hard to experience New Life Church with out believing that they are in the flow, and we know from experience that as we make steps to increase our intimacy with God the enemy will also setup up the attack. He wants nothing more then to sever that tie. The enemy first struck the head of New Life and that did not stop anything. Now He strikes the Body.
My prayer is that this wound too will heal quickly and cleanly. That the enemy will have no foothold among us. God your word tells us that we will have victory in Christ, It also says that we will not reach victory easily, but that there will be persecution, tribulation, suffering and death. God give us the strength to get back up when we are knocked down, and to stand strong in the face of the enemy. I will stand on only my word in saying that you will be glorified in this too.
And to those families that were directly affected by this, may God rest upon you in a new way. Hold you and comfort you. May he bless your loved ones for eternity, and may your reunion be never ending, weather it be on earth or in heaven.
God Bless You
Jeremy
AMEN to Jeremy’s comments! My cousin works at a business in Omaha that’s right near the mall, where the shooting took place. It does hit close to home and affects alot of people.
I think there’s an urgency to pray for our youth. They are searching for a way to fit in, for an identity. Some choose a bad way to try to make a name for themselves, such as shooting people and then shooting themself.
