At our house there are a few treasured ornaments that everyone wants to have the priviledge of hanging on the tree. One of those is a ornament that depicts the Real Santa Claus. When the kids were very little, we began the telling the story of the real Saint Nicholas and how he shared the love of Jesus with the poor and hurting of the world. Because of one of the stories you can read in this article called “Who Is Saint Nicholas?”, our family tradition always places an orange in the toe of the stockings on Christmas eve.
No matter your tradition, the love of God flows through the story of Saint Nicholas. May we all embody the love of God like he did.
Do you have any recommendations of children’s books that accurately give account of the real Saint Nicholas?
We have one book in our Christmas stuff - still haven’t got those boxes out yet to decorate the house. How pathetic is that here on December 8?! But, on this website link there are numerous books that look really good…
