“And this is what he promised us—even everlasting life.” 1 John 2:25
Life is short. My dad didn’t make it to sixty. In recent years, I’ve officiated at the funerals of babies, teenagers, husbands and wives in their thirties, and others whose lives were cut short by car accidents and cancer.
So, reconcile with the people in your family who you are presently estranged from. You don’t know who will be here this time next year and who won’t. The only thing you can take with you to heaven is the PEOPLE. You don’t want regrets, you want rewards.
One of the traditional symbols of Christmas is the evergreen tree. Evergreen stays green all winter and symbolizes everlasting life - that which never dies. No one was made to live eighty, or even ninety years. We were created for eternity. The only thing yet to determine is where you will spend eternity. That issue is settled for those who accept Christ.
PRAYER: God, the years are going by quickly. I want to live here on earth with no regrets so one day I can live with you with a full reward. I accept Christ into my life. He is my Lord. With the time I have here on earth, I commit to helping others make it to heaven. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
