Boom Boom Jeremey, Teddymac, I’m beginning to think both of you are beginners at pirotechnics, You can launch a tree if you really try hard, even a green one. You just need the correct rockets (NOT Fire crakers. Do you need help with this? Orrrrrrrrrr you could use a pumpkin launcher, I’m sure there is one in South Dakota. If you get it high enough, it could even be a star over Sioux Falls. JUST KIDDING, I’m sure there would be some kind of visit from an officer if you both got together. Keep going to Church sounds like you both need it.

Yeah Marcee, that all sounds great, but you know the day after Christmas they’ll still think “Hmmm, this tree’s shaped a bit like a rocket. I bet with a little bit of help I could launch this thing straight into next week.”

Can a girl give some input, guys? = ) For one, the colored flames in the fireplace sound like some science class experiment. That would not work in my gas fireplace. I don’t want to blow my house up!

Firecrackers on a wreath? No, way! Flaming Christmas trees? Hmmmm….that might scare the rabbits out of my yard.

If you really want to impress the women in your lives, buy them a fine piece of jewelry - a new diamond ring, a diamond tennis bracelet or something that’s more than 6 carats. Not carrots that you eat, but carats of fine jewelry! I know the ladies will agree with me on this one.

If you have not done so already, go out to Sanford’s University of Sioux Falls athletic field to watch their Christmas light display. It’s very good with a Christian message and Christmas songs. It’s free, but they take donations.

I have not seen the display at Crooks, but that looks like it would be worth the short drive to see, as well.

My uncle has a horse drawn sleigh, and he had put blinking clear lights on it and set it in the yard so that it appears to be moving. Now, that is really creative and very cool!

Personally, my thing is sitting in my livingroom after dark, turning on my Christmas tree that has oodles and oodles of clear lights on it, and sitting down with no other lights on in the house. It’s very breathtaking and draws me into the Christmas spirit. Jesus is the light of the world, and the green tree reminds me of the eternal life I have with Him.

Well a couple of ideas come to mind here. The first is making Christmas wreaths for your buddies as gifts. Yes it sounds a little girly but when you garnish the wreath with home made firecrackers (small sonic booms) it makes a very manly gift and is a real blast to get together and make as a group. Be careful!!! I remember them as a kid and well these so called firecrackers can blow a 12 inch circle out of your lawn and rattle the windows. hehe. The second idea is to well not water that tree for about a week or so and then stand it in the front yard. make sure and tape a few yard sticks together before you light the tree! But wow what a show and man flames get up to 15 to 20 feet in the air (i’m guessing). Just a few fun ideas that i must put a disclaimer in here that if you do attempt either of these i had nothing to do with putting the idea in your head!!

My dad used to take the train around the bottom of the tree to a whole new level - smoke, whistle and sound track.

But, Jeremy is on to something here. Fella’s, impress her this year with colored fire in the fireplace! Here’s the chemistry link on how to color fire. This will surely add romance and a good reason to say OK the next time the dreaded “turn-off-the-game and let’s-JUST-sit-by-the-fireplace” suggestion arises. “JUST” nothing baby, here put on these goggles… (just in case).

Red - Strontium Chloride
Orange - Calcium Chloride (a bleaching powder)
Yellow - Sodium Chloride (table salt) or Sodium Carbonate
Yellowish - Green Borax
Green - Copper Sulfate
Blue - Copper Chloride
Violet - 3 parts Potassium Sulfate, 1 part Potassium Nitrate (saltpeter)
Purple - Potassium Chloride
White - Magnesium Sulfate (Epsom salts)

Well, I know real trees tend to be flammable…
I am guessing with the right additives we could get some Christmas colored flames.
