Christmas Retro #1 - Keep Dreamin’

Here is a little walk down memory lane for you. Nothing quite says Christmas retro like Dean Martin in his authentic wood paneled Beverly Hills ranch singing White Christmas.  This is certainly a place where a White Christmas is truly a dream. You don’t quite know if he is going to breathe or drop over dead at the end of each phrase. Dean Martin doesn’t walk he floats.  I have never seen someone make a couch look so comfortable.

For a second I thought I caught a whiff of my grandma’s house while Brother Dean was singing. What memories surfaced for you?

    Beautiful!

This reminds me of when I was a kid and Christmas seemed such a special time.

I remember hearing this song in a shopping centre near Nottingham Castle. I was about 5 years old then (1965) and it making me feel safe, warm and happy.

Thanks for sharing this great Christmas Song!

Made me think about what the world was like back then - gas prices were about the same : ) - we had a red chevy impala - you could fit four guys in the trunk. We never tried but you could - it was a present hauling machine heading to the family Christmas gathering. Shortly thereafter somebody made a rule that the adults didn’t have to buy something for everyone elses kids (cousins) - they started drawing names and so each family only had to buy for one family. That’s how inflation impacted me, same party, fewer presents.

Makes me think of my family watching “White Christmas” and “It’s a Wonderful Life” every Christmas season. Makes me homesick here at college :-\ But most of all it makes me SO excited for Christmas break and coming home to be with my family after finals!

Brings back so many fun memories. With each clip I watched there was a “homesickness” for childhood. Dean reminds me so much of my daddy. Makes me wonder who my children will remember!?

It appeared to me that Dean had a few too many pieces of Rum/Fruitcake before he sang. One of my top 5 favorite Christmas songs though.
