“In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.” Psalm 5:3
Timing is everything! The Bible says “there is a time and a season for every activity under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1) Jesus was born in the fullness of time. The idea there is that time was pregnant. Those who’ve had a front row seat to a pregnancy know, you better be in the right place, with the right people, doing the right thing when it’s “time” for that baby to be born.
The Christmas Season is always full of activity. Yet still so many are out of sync with God. The Bible encourages us to seek God in the morning. That’s why we are posting these devotionals each day at 6 A.M. for the next 25 days. You don’t have to wake up at six, but do make them the first thing you attend to in the day. Throughout the day we’ll put up 3 or 4 other posts of wacky Christmasy stuff - Christmas retro, nutty Noel news, etc..
But our lives get out of sync with God when other things are first in our day - so that’s why we are starting with these devotions. It’s takes 21 days to form a habit. The best gift you can give to yourself this Christmas season is to develop a habit of seeking God first. The Bible also says “Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.” (Isaiah 55:6) “While” is a timing word. That tells me we need to do this while we still can. Steward your moments this Christmas Season, and put God first.
PRAYER: God, this morning I seek you first. I call on your name Jesus. Today, would you “order my steps according to your Word” so I don’t get out of sync with you. Help me to “keep in step” with your Spirit and not lag behind spiritually this Christmas Season. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
